A summer wedding at Merewood

A summer wedding at Merewood

What a whirlwind day this was!! All weathers, loads of locations and a good old ‘knees up’.

I started the day with hair and makeup and lots of bridesmaids in the room all getting ready which always makes for a great atmosphere.

After the ceremony, there where post ceremony drinks all round, then we jumped aboard Cumbria Classic Coaches’ vintage bus for a road trip through the lakes. We stopped off at Ambleside for some pictures on the jetty, which always brings entertainment and good well wishes from the passers-by. Absolutely bucketing it down, the guests downed a few bottles of prosecco on the way to Grasmere. The couple braved the rain with umbrellas and the showers subsided and we headed for home.

Luckily we were able to create some pictures in the fabulous gardens and inside Merewood too.
I had such a great time at this wedding and was made to feel like one of the guests. I don’t know what time they partied until but I’m sure it will have been well after I fell flat out asleep !

Dating back to The Georgian era, Merewood was built in 1910 for the oldest son of the 1st Earl of Lonsdale.

I have photographed soo many weddings here and find it so versatile to accommodate from large weddings to elopements all year round.

The fantastic team at Merewood will ensure that your planning and wedding run smoothly. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience in weddings of all sizes and they always make me feel very much part of the team. All of us working together to ensure your day runs smoothly.

You will not go hungry!!- amazing food !

There really is an abundance of places to create your wedding pictures and also a choice of ceremony rooms.

On warm days, there is something special about saying ‘I do’ in the private outside area overlooking the lake. Merewood offers this excellent outdoor space as an alternative to an indoor ceremony.

In the winter months, you do not have to worry about where to take pictures. There are so many photographic joys to be had here- The oak panelled, grand staircase, roaring fireplaces and beautiful windows, plus the art deco style bar area, again with panoramic views.

The gardens are kept to high standards all year round and the ornamental fountain is a great feature, with a backdrop of the Lakeland Fells.

Merewood has recently won ‘Best Wedding Venue Cumbria’ at the 2024 North West Wedding Awards.
